21 things to let go to be a happier person
Not sure how many of you have seen/read this article, but one of my friends shared this on Facebook and I clicked on it, and now all those 21 things are nagging at me. Out of that list, I am probably guilty of #6, 9, 10, 12, 16, 17 and 20, and ironically most of them involves others, like their expectations and impressions etc. I for one care wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much about what other people think of me, which is I am so afraid of learning or doing new things with a group of people, be it known or strangers. Because I am scared! What if i don't learn fast enough? What if I embarrass myself during the process? What if they think i'm stupid? And the list goes on and on. And funnily enough, my biggest flaw would be knowing I've gotta do something and yet I find excuses not to do it, or simply ignore it. #exactlypointnumber9 So, what's stopping me, you asked? I don't know.. fear i guess #anotherspoton. Hence, i think this article is probably a good wake-up call and it's time to reflect upon myself what I should let go to be a happier person. Growing up watching Disney love stories the likes of Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty gave me the perception that girls will eventually find their Prince Charming in real life, and then live happily ever after. It's sort of true, I believe every girl has their Prince/Princes waiting at different points in their life. But what these fairy tales failed to tell us is that though happily ever after do exist, it takes hard work! Finding a guy/girl you love doesn't mean that the process of being in a relationship is an easy one, has no arguments, no issues, no differences, no compromises and the extreme of no cheating to dealt with. Finding the one just means that you are more willing and are more committed in dealing with all the problems, just cause you both want to be together. This quote says it all:
Relationship that has issues doesn't mean it is not, and will never be, a fairy tale. It's all about overcoming all the issues and differences, if that person really means that much to you. And who's to say that will not be the more touching/inspiring love story fairy tale ever? :)
Hahahaha.. Yes.. You didn't read wrongly. If you didn't come across my tweet or Facebook post about this, then please allow me to re-tell the story. So one fine day during lunch time, I went to the non-halal section in a supermarket, picked up a packet of Char Siew rice, then headed to the cashier to pay. At the cashier there is this tall, bespectacled white man who's making payment so I patiently stand next to him to wait for my turn. I was looking here and there (except at him), and at one point I realized he was looking at me. When I looked at him, he said "You look a great deal like Michelle Obama!" The first thing that came to my head was 'who??' cause I didn't really get the name as he uses a soft tone and has a slight accent. Then after a few seconds the name registered and I can tell you, I was speechless and all I could muster was this ridiculous smile/laugh He proceeded to say 'Yeah you really look like her. Has anyone ever tell you that?" I found my voice by then and I said (surprisingly my voice was of an amused tone) 'No, you're the first' to him. He then continued to say 'I'm the first? That's good!' LOL!!! I then told him I will take this as a compliment, and he said 'yeah you should, it is!' as he walked away. If that's a pick up line, I have to say.. that was a.. pretty good one!! HAHAHAHAHA.. Out of curiosity, I put together my photo and Michelle Obama's photo to see if there's any resemblance
I'm not entirely sure where's the resemblance but it certainly does made it into one of the highlights of the day!! :D
On February 7.. or in numeric form in the mm/dd/ format, 2/7. I guess this only comes once in a lifetime and I should be happy about it.. But somehow, I don't seem to be in the mood to celebrate my birthday this year. I don't mind a simple gathering of friends over a nice meal, but the thought of cake and pressents.. hmm I don't mind skipping that. So friends take note! LOL. Just give me a hug will do :)
A belated post to say goodbye to 2012 and welcome the brand new year of 2013. I think I have the habit of doing a reflect-back-on-the-year post since some years ago, and so I thought I do the same for last year too. 2012 was a much better year for me than the year before that, and it was filled with 3 trips to the land down under, twice to Singapore and once to Bangkok for work purpose, and one trip to Langkawi with the boyfie for his birthday/vacation. 2 other biggest achievements (which i've blogged about in September but can't link T_T) were that
1) I'M DRIVING! Yes many people who got to know about it were (or still are?) SHOCKED to know that I am driving. ALONE. LITERALLY. BY MYSELF. Haha. I used to think that driving was so scary and all the cars that zoomed past were monsters who doesn't let you get past them. But now I guess I don't find it THAT scary anymore. During my recent trip to Gold Coast I drove too! A different car a different city/country did make me panic at first, but I'm lucky to have a daring and encouraging boyfie. Have no idea why he placed so much faith in my driving skills when I myself don't LOL. 2) LDR. Haha not really consider an achievement to some and we are only 8 months into the relationship. But OH WELL. It's a BIG THING to me hahaha. Never been sooooo happy and so in love! Even strangers can see that in us LOL
Took a short trip to Brisbane to see my bestie and the boyfie and I were invited to join a little sight seeing trip organized by the housemate. Came across this street sign in Bulimba and bestie immediately asked us to pose underneath it :) Thanks to her I love the picture :D Also went Boxing Day shopping with the bestie, she's the best person to go shopping with! So miss you huns! And I miss shopping in Aussie already LOL
3) A year into the not-so-new-job already and there's ups and downs. Let's see if I can do MUCH BETTER this year?

I've not blogged for quite awhile now, and I blame it on Instagram because every photo/moment worth blogging are already there in my instagram feed. So I lazy want to repost them hahaha. Anyway, thought that I got some time to spare so why not do a short post :D

Was looking through at some of the photos taken in the past and I came across this one! Can say one of my proudest moment cause I've survived the first ever batch of NS and I was also a co-captain of the team, and ta da! look at my big smile amongst all the serious faces LOLOL.. Aww.. the memories from those days.. It wasn't THAT difficult cause being the first batch many things were still on trial and error basis, so we had quite some fun!
Oreo cheesecake flavor - secret recipe from the boss himself :)
This new yoghurt ice-cream shop, Yogen Fruz, recently opened in 1MK, the mall opposite my workplace. The concept is similar with Tutti Frutti, where the price of the ice-cream is depending on the weigh.With an interesting chance I had the opportunity to give it a try (was skeptical all thanks to the bad experience at Tutti Frutti who charged so expensive and the ice cream NOT NICE). Surprisingly this surpassed my expectations! Especially love the generous amount of cookies crumbs they put on it, sooo good! The price is not exactly cheap, this was rm14.50 after 20% discount, But it was really good, and I'm sort of hooked on it! Gonna go back next to try the mint chocolate flavor. Lastly, gonna end this post with a sweet sweet note (Diabetes alert)
I know it's not year end yet, but knowing how forgetful I can be I think it's wise that I write these down first.
But these achievements are quite big, I doubt I will forget it actually LOL. Anyway, here are two I just realized:
1) Finally I'm driving. FINALLY! After putting this on hold for...er.. 6 or 7 years? LOL.. what motivates me, some of you might ask. Well I've gotta say there are a few reasons. One, I'm tired of getting teased by people around me for not driving while everyone younger than me are driving already. But this is not the biggest reason. The biggest reasons (yes more than one) that motivated me to conquer my fear were that I wanted to be able to drive my boyfriend around when he's in town and also because my dad is getting older I don't want to be a burden to him anymore. It's two very different reasons but I've gotta say when you have the right reasons no fear can stop you. And a big part of it I have my boyfriend to thank for, cause it is him being so encouraging and supporting, and doesn't mind mocking his own driving/parking skills that made me success in driving today :) 2) Being in a LDR, and growing stronger as a couple everyday. If you ask me 3-4 years ago whether I would get myself into a LDR, I can tell you firmly NO. Heck even if you ask me earlier this year I would still say NO. I have deep-rooted insecurity issues and low self-confidence, which I know these will make me super paranoid about him cheating on me etc. I blame my past relationship for doing this to me LOL..
So yeah, I have been in a LDR 5 months and counting now, I know it's not a long period, but it's still an achievement for me. I is happy :)
NO I'M NOT PREGNANT =.=" LOL.. although the title can be a little misleading like that. Anyway, the 5 months refer to my bf and I's anniversary :)
Yeah it's only been 5 months, can't believe that. And out of these 5 months we spend most of our time apart, yet I still feel closely connected to him. I guess that's because we talk every night :)
I love you baby, so amazing that we found each other. Mwah!!
While waiting for the traffic jam outside to clear
Yep, after a few really hot days, today the sky decided to rain. And it rained at the most ungodly hour.. which is during the off-work duration. MASSIVE JAM OUTSIDE FOR SURE!! So here I am, thought of waiting it out a little while more, with one ear listening to all sorts of Disney songs, I thought I should blog! Saw a quote that I really like today: "When you feel alone, just look at the spaces between your fingers, and remember that in those spaces you can see my fingers locked with yours forever." It makes me feel warmth from within, and I am reminded of our hand hold. I have to remember to take a picture of our fingers intertwined together when we are reunited again. Speaking of hand hold, it is actually the title of a song by Wanting. I really love the song, the simple lyrics speak volume.
Okay la I leave you with her song, I think I shall get going already. It look really dark outside, and I shall drive carefully.
I wasn't a believer of LDR before I met my current boyfie due to a couple of reasons: my own insecurity issues, the lack of faith in men, and also bad experience with the ex and also seeing/hearing those around me.
But everything has changed now. I now know that when you find the right person who give you enough confidence, assurance and commitment, you'll trust him/her so much that LDR is just a small issue. That even though there is physical distance between the two of you, your hearts are closely linked and there's nothing else in the world that could separates you both.
It's amazing to note that how meeting and falling in love with you have changed me and my perception towards love and LDR, for that I'm grateful :)
Finally got the chance to update the photos I put up on my bedside table.
Previously I've placed two photos of my group of besties, one was taken some years ago when we were still young and in college/uni, and another one was taken early last year during one of our trips.
I've been wanting to change the pictures for quite some time now as some of the people in it are no longer relevant, and we have all grown so much since those photos were taken.
Also, I've got a special someone that's very important to me now, and because I don't get to see him every other day/week, so a picture of us would be handy as I could stare at his photo all day long whenever I miss him. Of course in this way he would also be the first and last person that I see everyday <3

I have always consider myself to be a happy-go-lucky person, where I prefer not to worry about things until it hit me in the face.
I am someone who's more of a dreamer than a realist, not really a practical or materialistic person.
I fall in love easily, but once I've made a decision that this someone is the right person, I would put my 101% into it, regardless what the other thinks or say.
I have a sweet tooth, I love chocolates, ice-creams, cakes and any other desserts. I'm a chocoholic ^_^. I always choose chocolate favour for almost anything.
I love blue colour, to the extent that everything I own or like, is in blue. Well, not everything, almost. My first choice would always be blue than any other
colour. Thus the colour of the layout for my blog hehe.
I have a soft spot for beggars, direct sellers, those asking for donations and homeless people. Whenever I see any of these people, I'd feel a heartache and tears
will come to my eyes. I really do feel for them, so even if I know they could be a part of a scam, I would still help whenever and however I can.
I believe in karma, what comes around goes around. Period.
